Congratulations! You're almost there, but there are a few loose ends to tie up before you can fully celebrate:
- Final Walk-Through Inspection: Just to dot the i's and cross the t's, do a final walk-through inspection a day before or on the day of closing. Make sure everything is in working order, nothing has changed since your last visit, and all agreed-upon items are still in place.
- Home Services and Utilities: Don't forget to set up your home services and utilities. We'll provide you with a handy list of numbers to make the activation process a breeze after closing.
- Be Prepared: Even at this stage, unexpected hiccups can occur. But don't worry, we're here to help. Whether it's a minor breakdown or a last-minute detail, we've got the experience to handle it efficiently and stress-free.
- Closing: The big moment has arrived. The closing agent will provide everyone involved with a settlement statement detailing all financial transactions. You and the seller(s) will sign off on this statement, along with any other necessary documentation from the lending institution if you're financing the purchase. If you can't make it to the closing, don't worry, arrangements can be made. And if you're bringing funds, you can choose to wire them electronically or bring a certified bank check. The seller will also provide you with keys and any other essential information you need for your new home.
With these final steps completed, you're ready to officially call your new place home. Cheers to a smooth move-in process!
